Secretary General Li Changguan Holds a Working Meeting with Mr. THATHONGSAK, Chargé d´affaires Salermxay of the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Beijing

On September 29, 2020, Secretary General Li Changguan of the CABIS Secretariat held a working meeting with Mr. Salermxay THATHONGSAK, Chargé d´affaires of the Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on the 17th CABIS preparation and the bilateral trade and economic activities under the framework of the 17th CABIS.

Secretary General Li expressed appreciation for the Embassy’s continuous support, introducing the status quo of China-Laos and Guangxi-Laos trade and economic cooperation development under the serious circumstance of regular COVID-19 prevention and control, and the arrangements and preparation of the 17th CABIS. The two sides also exchanged views on the preparation of China-Laos bilateral trade and economic activities.

Mr. THATHONGSAK highly commended China for efforts in preventing and controlling COVID-19. The Chinese government promoted work and production resumption, deepened opening-up and international cooperation, maintained the stability of the global supply chain, and contributed greatly to the global public health development. Mr. THATHONGSAK stated that, serving as a connectivity link between ASEAN and China, Guangxi plays an important role in accelerating China and Lao’s bilateral trade and economic cooperation. As Laos is the country of honor this year, the Embassy will continue to support the CABIS secretariat, especially the preparation of China-Laos trade and economic activities under the framework of the 17th CABIS.

Commercial secretary of the Embassy Phoutsawanh KHOUNCHANTHA, deputy secretary general Ding Yuanlong, and officials from Division of International Convention attended the meeting.
