(Chinese then-Premier Wen Jiabao Attends the Seventh China and ASEAN (10+1) Leaders' Meeting)
In October 2003, Chinese then-Premier Wen Jiabao of the State Council of China proposed at the 7th China-ASEAN (10+1) Summit held in Bali, Indonesia, that an annual China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit and the China-ASEAN Expo should be held annually as a concrete step to promote China-ASEN facilitating the establishment of the ASEAN Free Trade Area.
This strategic proposal was positively responded by the leaders of ASEAN countries and was voiced in the Chairman’s Statement of the summit.
In November 2004, the first China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit and the first China-ASEAN Expo were held in Nanning, Guangxi, China.
