Liaison Officals Meeting for The 6^th China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit was held in Beijing. With the purpose of the 11 countries' co-operation of the event, CABIS Secretariat improve the liaison officials working mechanism for the ASEAN national Chambers of Commerce and Industry, facilitate the communication between China and ASEAN in the preparation of the summit, and listen to the suggestions about the success of the summit. Mr. Yu Ping, Vice Chairman of CCPIT, relevant officials of CABIS Secretariat, liaison officials of ASEAN, officials of Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Foreign Affairs etc attended the meeting.

    ASEAN countries paid great attention to the liaison officials working and sent officials of chambers of commerce and industry to attend this meeting.

    In the meeting, Mr. Yu Ping declared the goals of the 6^th CABIS. He said, the construction of China-ASEAN, which will be completed next year, will bring opportunities to the development of China and ASEAN. On the other hand, the current global financial crisis will bring challenges. In face of opportunities and challenges, the preparatory work of the 6^th CABIS shall achieve the following goals:

A 、To keep CABIS as a high-level dialogue between state and government leaders, leaders from national chambers of commerce and industry and business community, experts and scholars of China and ASEAN.

B、 To innovate forms by adding pragmatic contents and improve working mechanism by taking initiatives from all aspects for the sustainable development of CABIS.

     In order to bring this platform into better play under the current situation, Mr Yu Ping put forward the following suggestions:

A 、To take more initiatives to invite representatives to attend the 6^th CABIS. In order to invite leaders from state and government and business community, scholars and experts from China and ASEAN to attend the 6^th CABIS.

B 、To improve working mechanism for the sustainable development of CABIS.

C 、To bring CABIS into full play with new contents and more highlights. New activities, such as round-table dialogues, media interview with leaders of national chambers of commerce and industry of ASEAN, etc. will provide more opportunities to share views among participants.

D 、To innovate forms and build up public awareness of CABIS. We will introduce high-tech equipment to CABIS, highlight the theme, reflect the characteristics of co-hosting by both China and ASEAN, demonstrate regional culture and customs and keep CABIS at first class level. To build up awareness with effective promotions. We will strengthen cooperation with main media to make the event more influential.

E、 To introduce market operation to CABIS. We will actively develop strategic partnerships with enterprises to increase public awareness of the linkage between CABIS and business.

    HuangYongqiang, Secretary-General of CABIS Secretariat briefed on the overall schedule and the main events for the coming 6^th China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit(abbreviated as CABIS).

    The theme of the 6^th CABIS is 'China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and ASEAN Integration-Co-operation for Mutual Development.' Topic for the Round-Table Dialogue: Fight the Crisis with Joint Efforts to Promote Mutual Development. Topic for the Subject Forum: An Opening Market and New Business Potentials, Interview with Leaders of National Chambers of Commerce and Industry of ASEAN etc.

    The liaison officials of Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Foreign Affairs summarized the politics, economic and trade relations in China and ASEAN currently and they fully recognized the platform of facilitating the strategic cooperation between China and ASEAN, they agreed with the themes, topics and activity arrangements of the 6^th CABIS.

Liaison officials of the ASEAN countries expressed their opinions actively in the meeting, they thought that the summit had been staged for five consecutive years and had become an important platform for high-level dialogue for trade and investment cooperation, accelerated the construction of the CAFTA. They would made the report and feedback of the goal, arrangements, and suggestions of the CABIS Secretariat to their own countries. They would joint effort to make the 6^th summit a success. The liaison official of Vietnam expressed that he would take initiative to make the Round-Table dialogue a success and take part in the activities of the 6^th summit.
