Indonesia registers 5.02 pct growth in Q3

    JAKARTA, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia recorded 5.02 percent growth in the third quarter this year, slower than 5.18 percent it gained in the second quarter due to sluggish growths experienced by most its trade partner countries and domestic factors, an Indonesian senior official said Monday.
    "The global economy condition is yet to be stable with uneven growth distributions were seen in several countries," Indonesia's Central Statistics Bureau chief Suhariyanto said in his office.
    He, however, said that growth figure in the third quarter this year was apparently higher than 4.73 percent in the corresponding period last year.
    Suhariyanto said that downturns in Indonesia's trade partner nations such as South Korea and Singapore, that posted 2.7 and 0.6 percent in the period, have significantly affected Indonesia.
    The two nations' growths in the third period this year were decreased by 3.3 and 2 percent from the second quarter respectively.
    The other exacerbating factor to the nation's third quarter growth was the inflation, which stood at 0.9 percent on quarterly basis and 3.07 percent on year-to-year basis, he said.
    "Lower state budget spending also contributed to the growth in the period. It stood at 439.73 trillion rupiah (about 33.5 billion U.S. Dollars), or lesser than 484.78 trillion rupiah (about 37 billion U.S. Dollars) spent in the same period last year," he added.
    On cumulative basis, Suhariyanto said that Indonesia records 5.04 percent growth in the first nine months this year.
    Due to the ensuing downturns in global economies, Indonesia has revised its growth targets to 5.1 and 5.2 percent from the initial 5.2 and 5.3 percent for 2016 and 2017 respectively.
