Chairman of the CCPIT Guangxi Committee and Secretary General of the CABIS Secretariat Wei Ran Meets with Trade Consul of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Guangzhou Haris
On the morning of June 9, 2022, Mr. Wei Ran, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Guangxi Committee and Secretary General of the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) Secretariat met with Mr. Haris, Trade Consul of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Guangzhou and his delegation. They exchanged views on economic and trade cooperation between Guangxi and Malaysia.
Secretary General Mr. Wei Ran introduced the major duties and responsibilities of CCPIT Guangxi Committee and the preparatory work of the 19th China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS). He said that President Xi recently delivered a video speech at the Conference of the 70th Anniversary of CCPIT & Global Trade and Investment Promotion Summit and demonstrated the resolve of China to expand opening-up. In addition, Premier Li Keqiang attended the Symposium of the 70th Anniversary of CCPIT and proposed the establishment of a special working class mechanism for serving foreign investment, which is in order to respond and address the concerns of foreign enterprises. Guangxi’s task force for serving foreign-funded enterprises has been officially established, among which CCPIT Guangxi Committee will be the leading unit. CCPIT Guangxi Committee would like to stay close contact with the Commercial Office of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Guangzhou and make full use of the opportunity of the effective implementation of RCEP and promote various Malaysian enterprises such as durian, spices producers as well as traditional Chinese medicine and halal food producers to invest and trade in Guangxi.
Trade Consul Haris spoke highly of business environment in Nanning and said that he would take the 19th CABIS this year as an opportunity to actively organize Malaysian enterprises to attend the CABIS, so as to provide more support and convenience for both Malaysian enterprises to explore the Chinese market and Guangxi enterprises to invest in the Malaysian market. With global economic growth slowing down under the current pandemic situation, the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) has held a number of online conferences to build a communication platform for enterprises. As an overseas office of the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), the Commercial Office of the Malaysian Consulate General in Guangzhou is willing to give play to its own functional advantages, establish a close contact mechanism with CCPIT, share investment and trade information, and cooperate in holding economic and trade fairs to boost the export of Guangxi products to Malaysia and inject new vitality into bilateral trade.
Mr. Ari, Vice Consul of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Nanning attended the meeting. Vice Chairman Mr. Ding Yuanlong and the Division Chief of International Convention Division of CCPIT Guangxi Committee accompanied the discussion.
